Garden Spider Hatchlings

Having just hatched from their nest, it's moving day as hundreds of baby garden spiders scatter to make it out on their own. This creeping yellow cluster caught my eye one morning, so I immediately grabbed my camera and got in close to explore their world. The nearly invisible threads of their tangled web give them the footing they need as they appear suspended in mid-air while navigating through this tiny traffic jam. Thankfully, this massive group of siblings gave me no sense of arachnophobia, so I had plenty of time to try some different depth-of-field shots. This species is also known as Argiope Aurantia, or more commonly the corn spider or writing spider.
